Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels and More is currently looking for volunteers who wish to make a difference in the lives of seniors in our community! Our agency offers a variety of services that enable seniors to live with independence and dignity in their own homes. We have a myriad of opportunities available that include: volunteer drivers to deliver meals on wheels and/or transport clients to doctors appointments or grocery shopping, friendly visitors, fundraising and events, office administration and more! Grand River Hospital – Freeport site is recruiting compassionate, committed and energetic volunteers at the Freeport Site in the rehab program to support our patients. Volunteers are needed for recreation programs, visiting patients, and providing excellent customer service in the Hair Salon. September is Arthritis Awareness Month! Help Fight Arthritis by raising funds for research during the month of September. You can canvas door-to-door in your neighborhood, do a "Give $2 and Wear Blue" campaign at your workplace or sell Bluebirds at your retail location. City of Waterloo Senior Services has many interesting weekday volunteer opportunities for caring, sociable adults. If you are newly retired, new to town or seeking a new volunteer experience, consider getting involved! We are currently recruiting: a 55+ Newsletter Writer, Meal Program Helpers, an MC for Friday Flicks, 55+ Drop In Hosts or Hostesses, Volunteer Drivers, Shopper Escorts and Senior Outing Day Program Activity Assistants. Share your love of books and become a Reading Buddy at the Kitchener Public Library! For one hour a week, volunteers are matched one-on-one with students in grades 1 – 4 to read wonderful children’s books and explore the resources available at the library. Volunteers encourage participation, provide positive support and offer different reading strategies. This opportunity is offered in the evening at all five KPL locations; training is provided.
