The ChangeTheWorld Ontario Youth Volunteering Challenge is finishing its 4-week, Ontario-wide run, and has been an exciting way to capture the stories and experiences of youth making a difference in our community and across the province. We’re also proud to announce that we’ve partnered with Charity Republic and the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network (OVCN) to pilot the Volunteer Hour website, where students can track and verify their community involvement hours during this campaign and throughout the year! Youth Volunteer Recognition - All organizations interested in acknowledging their youth volunteers can still submit names of youth volunteers to our centre for recognition opportunities till Friday, May 24, 2013 by simply emailing Dianne a list of youth names and schools if possible.

The Waterloo Wellington Learning Alliance is a training and education partnership of the Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington, the Volunteer Action Centre of Kitchener-Waterloo & Area, and United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries - Volunteer Cambridge for community benefit organizations in the Region of Waterloo and Wellington County.
Creating a Community of Delighted Donors: May 29, 2013. When one charity treats its donors well, it reflects positively on all charitable organizations. We all have experiences and informed hunches that contribute to having “delighted donors.” This workshop, facilitated by Anne MacKay, is focused on recognizing the signs of delighted donors; actions that we can take to build delight in our giving communities; involving our donors more deeply; using your skills as fundraisers to build Delighted Communities of Giving. May 29. 2013; 9am-12pm; John M. Harper Branch Library, 500 Fischer-Hallman Road North, Waterloo; $49 per person.
The PAVRO LIVE Conference is taking place May 29-31 at the Centre for Health and Safety Innovation is Mississauga. The conference centres around individual professional development in volunteer engagement, and includes opportunities for networking, discussing hot topics, and celebrating the profession. Volunteer Today. Influence Tomorrow. When children have a positive adult role model, it opens the door to opportunities. They're more engaged in school, have better relationships, and are more connected to their community. The Volunteer Today campaign encourages adults to volunteer in the lives of children and was launched in May 2013 as a recommendation of the report From One System to Another: Crossover Children in Waterloo Region (WRCPC, 2011). Conestoga College's new Public Service - Post Grad is a post graduate co-op program allowing for the students to end their program with a 4 month co-op with an option to stay longer. Our students are prepared with the following; ability to develop and analyze policy and procedures, perform research in regards to legislation and regulations to guide decision-making processes and action, and participate in succession planning and human resource activities.
