Position: Assembly Presenter/Public Speaker - Jump Rope For Heart
Location: Various schools in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge
Impact Statement: This volunteer will be trained to successfully present the Jump Rope For Heart Kick-Off Assembly. Jump Rope for Heart is an exciting, key fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, that motivates kids into action and encourages them to stay healthy, while inspiring them to raise funds for a cause that's important to their communities. This event is held at elementary schools across Canada. Every year, in Waterloo Region alone, approximately 100 schools participate and raise close to half a million dollars annually, for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. These generous donations support local initiatives such as research at the University of Waterloo, as well as Education and Advocacy to help people to live healthier, longer lives.
Description: Once trained, this volunteer will be responsible to present the Jump Rope For Heart Kick Off presentation to various schools within Waterloo Region. Presentations normally take place in the school gymnasium and the population in attendance can range from 30-700+ students and staff. Our presenter will have the necessary tools, such as the power point, laptop, projector, sample prizes etc to professionally engage the students and teach them about the opportunity to participate in Jump Rope For Heart. They will present fundraising challenges, Heart Health information and will provide students with all information necessary to get them started on their Fundraising. The selected candidate will also have excellent crown managing skills and will be outgoing and energized when representing the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Requirements: English Proficiency
Training Details: Orientation and training will be provided on Jump Rope for Heart, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Candidate will also attend one or two Kick Offs with the Area Coordinator and then the Area Coordinator will attend a minimum of one kick off with the volunteer to provide and coaching, suggestions and feedback.
Working Conditions: Travel involved - must have reliable vehicle and current drivers' license, presentations are indoors. Volunteer must be able to travel to various Kick Offs (weekdays, Thursdays and Fridays are busiest) throughout Waterloo Region. We will work with the volunteer's availability when choosing the Kick Offs that they would be responsible for. Volunteer must be reliable and punctual with excellent communication skills.
