Position: Tutor - French Immersion

Forest Heights Community Library is offering a homework help program for French Immersion students in grades 1 – 6. If you are fluent in French and would like to assist students with their studies, volunteer your time to provide reading and math assistance.
Description: Parlez-Vous Français? Voulez-vous faire du bénévolat? Nous vous invitons à nous rejoindre les jeudis cet hiver, pour aider les élèves de 1ère à 6e année en français immersion avec les devoirs de langage, et mathématiques. Si vous parler couramment le français, veuillez vous engager comme bénévole!

• Establish a positive & friendly rapport with students;
• Provide instruction in French and encourage students to engage in French conversations;
• Help students understand homework and offer reading strategies to complete assignments;
• Provide support and encouragement to the student;
• Keep customer & library information confidential;
• Obtain a Police Information Check once accepted into the program
Requirements: English Proficiency, Confidentiality
Training Details: Kitchener Public Library will provide an orientation to this opportunity and training on the children's resources available at the public library.
Working Conditions: We have a program room with tables and chairs for all participants and volunteers.
Duration: 4 - 6 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail: Thursdays, January 11 to February 27, 2018 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM OR 4:30 - 5:30 PM
