Description: Adult volunteers are matched with children who have been referred to the Friends Service and are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Children are in need of social/emotional support. Volunteers go to a school for 1-2 hours per week planning activities such as arts and crafts, sports, reading, baking etc. in the hope to help build a healthy self esteem and self confidence.

**This position is also open for highschool co-op students or students with 5th period spares**

Requirements: Confidentiality, Work Without Supervision
Training Details: Mandatory training is required (topics such as building self-esteem, self-confidence, social skills, supportive listening, mock referrals, bullying, legalities, child abuse). Vulnerable Police Record Check required.
Working Conditions: Volunteers will be located in elementary schools around the Region after being matched.
Duration: 7 - 12 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail: Now recruiting for the 2017/2018 school year.

School-based hours, weekdays between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm. No volunteering on any days schools are closed (PD Days, Holidays, and snow days).
