Position: Heart Hero Volunteer - Jump Rope For Heart
Location: Various schools in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge, potentially rural as well.
Impact Statement: By sharing your time with the Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) Jump Rope For Heart participants you play a key role in helping kids get active while representing your HSF local office, here in Kitchener.
Description: Volunteers will participate with the students and provide other event day support for the school’s Jump Rope for Heart event day. Volunteers help engage participating students in different jumping and activity stations and also making sure the event is done in a fun and safe manner. Following attendance at the event, which may involve skipping with the students, turning ropes, setting up Jump stations, thanking the staff for their role in their Jump Rope For Heart event day, you may return to the HSF Kitchener office to assist with event wrap-up.
Training Details: Orientation and training will be provided on Jump Rope for Heart and the Heart and Stroke Foundation at the Kitchener HSF office prior to being assigned any events. Volunteers will be provided with school name, address, teacher contact name, phone number, arrival and departure times and any other additional information pertaining to that school's event. We are flexible and can work with the volunteer's existing schedule, however, we do ask that the volunteer commit to attending a minimum of 5 event days.
Working Conditions: You will attend various schools in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge. The majority of events are outside, weather permitting. Some events run for a couple of hours, some run for the entire day. Some events may be held in the school gymnasium. Teachers and staff rely on our presence at these selected events so attendance and commitment are of great importance.
Duration: 3 months or less
Timing: Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail: Events will be held at schools generally from April 1 to June 15 during school hours with the busiest day being Fridays.
