Position: Road Impact Survey Volunteer
Location: 1679 Blair Road, Cambridge, ON, Canada
Impact Statement: You will be contributing to valuable long-term data collection at rare. You will have the opportunity to gain experience conducting standardized surveys and using basic field equipment (such as GPS), and to improve your ability to identify species of local fauna.
Description: Looking for biological survey experience? We are looking for a team of volunteers to conduct weekly road impact surveys from April to October.

Tasks include:
-Safely walking along roadway, collecting wildlife observation data
-Identifying and photographing DOR [Dead-On-Road] species from various taxa
-Taking GPS coordinates at various locations
-Completing and submitting road impact survey data sheets
-Collecting basic weather data
Training Details: Training sessions are held during the first week of each month. Training includes a thorough protocol orientation and a walk-a-long survey.

The first training day will be Tuesday, April 10th, at 9:00am.
Working Conditions: Physically fit to cover approximately 7.75 km of roadside terrain on foot. Comfortable walking on the shoulder of the road. Ability to work independently. Attention to detail. Able to work outdoors in most weather conditions. Comfortable viewing and photographing DOR animals. Ability to identify species of local fauna is an asset.
Duration: 3 months or less
Timing: Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail: We are asking volunteers to commit to one weekly morning shift on Tuesday, Thursday and/or weekends.
Approximately 4 hour shifts.
Commitment to at least four weeks of volunteering required (surveys run from April to October).
