Position: Meals on Wheels Garden Coordinator - Meals on Wheels Program
Location: 61 Woolwich Street North, Breslau, ON, Canada
Impact Statement: The Meals on Wheels Kitchen at Community Support Connections Meals on Wheels and More, prepares and delivers 300-350 quality meals to seniors and adults with disabilities in our community each day. In order to help grow our Meals on Wheels program, a garden was created in 2016 to help us carry out our mission by cultivating our own fresh ingredients to be used in our Tender Loving Kitchen.
Description: We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable volunteer to coordinate the garden team to ensure our garden reaches its full potential.

The lead garden hand will coordinate all garden operations including watering, seeding, fertilizing, weeding, harvesting and maintaining the garden. A team of garden volunteers will work together to complete all necessary garden duties in order to supply our Meals on Wheels kitchen with freshly grown produce. The Lead Garden Hand will secure coverage of garden duties by coordinating and scheduling garden volunteers.
Training Details: -On the job orientation and training provided.
-Supervisors are also always available to discuss concerns and to provide ongoing support, as needed.
-CSC offers regular educational workshops on various topics throughout the year. All volunteers are notified of upcoming workshops.
Working Conditions: -Knowledge of agriculture/ horticulture/ environment a strong asset.
-Looking for a volunteer with an intermediate or advanced knowledge of gardening (i.e. soil fertility, pest prevention, crop harvesting, etc.)
-Able to lead, direct and motivate the garden volunteers
-This position requires some heavy lifting and repetitive tasks such a bending and kneeling.
-Arrange and keep a schedule of volunteers and ensure coverage of basic weekly garden needs (i.e. weeding/watering)
-Able to follow and improve the garden plan as it evolves
-Willing to take ownership of tasks and report back on progress and next steps
-Has a passion for gardening, is adaptable, willing to learn and grow, try new things, succeed and fail as the garden grows.
Duration: 4 - 6 months
Timing: Anytime
Time Detail: Minimum four hour each week. In addition to calling, meeting, and coordinating other garden volunteers.
