Position: Storyteller - Storytelling Project

Impact Statement: Storytelling plays an important role in the work we do at Bereaved Families of Ontario – Midwestern Region. They are how we tell others about our loved ones, and how we keep their memories alive. Stories also play a critical role in helping the community understand the work we do with families who are grieving, and how they can support that work.

This year, we are focused on gathering stories from our members about their grief journey and experience with us, and also from our volunteers. These stories will help us bring awareness to the work we do so we can help more people in the community. These stories will also help in our volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives.
Description: We are currently looking for a passionate volunteer interviewer/writer for our Storytelling Project. This is a project-based, time-limited opportunity.

The successful candidate will:
* Create a story framework to set tone, define questions and work with BFO-MR to identify interviewees
* Schedule phone or in-person interviews with members and volunteers
* Conduct interviews
* Write up to 10 member and 10 volunteer stories, complete edits and finalize according to direction from BFO-MR with the understanding that all interview transcripts and written stories are the property of Bereaved Families of Ontario – Midwestern Region.
Training Details: Training provided by Bereaved Families of Ontario - Midwestern Region staff.
Duration: 4 - 6 months
Timing: Anytime
Time Detail: We anticipate this project will take approximately 20-25 hours to complete. Hours are flexible and can be arranged to fit within the volunteer’s schedule.
