Position: Driver - Meals on Wheels
Location: 887 Langs Drive, Unit 4A, Cambridge
Impact Statement: Providing seniors and adults with disabilities (who for various reasons are unable to cook their own meals), with a hot and nutritious meal every weekday.
Description: Many clients live at home alone, and perhaps just as important as the meal, is the need to see a friendly face and receive some kind words. Meals are picked up from our office on 887 Lang’s Drive and take approximate 60 – 90 minutes to complete (7 – 12 homes per route).
Requirements: Confidentiality, Physical Demand, Work Without Supervision
Training Details: Prior to starting, volunteers will review our handbook, policies and procedures, and have an in-car training with CSC staff. Yearly refresher training is mandatory. On-site staff support is provided on an on-going basis.
Working Conditions: Volunteers also provide a security check on health and safety. Volunteer drivers must have access to a vehicle, a valid driver's license, minimum $1 million liability insurance and a good driving record. Mileage reimbursement is available.
Duration: 4 - 6 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail: We ask that volunteers help out once per week, Monday to Friday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm (meal routes take no more than 1 hour) or on a spare or seasonal basis. Vacation time is granted. Our organization is closed on statutory holidays.
