Position: Thrift Shop Volunteer - MCC Thrift & Gift, Elmira

MCC’s Thrift shops take gently used clothing, housewares and furniture and turn them into cash to support Mennonite Central Committee programs.

Description: Elmira Thrift & Gift is seeking volunteers in the following positions:

Donation Receiver: friendly folks to accept donations from donors with a smile, offer a sincere thank you, and perform initial sort

Truck Support: pick up and deliveries: a friendly manner and the ability to lift and move furniture and other donated items makes you the perfect support for our receiving and delivery personnel

Sewing Notions / Clothing Sorters and Pricers: we need lots of help to sort and price the high volume of donations!

Retail Merchandising: if you have a flare for creating displays that show off the treasures of thrift we have a place for you!
Training Details: In-house training and job shadowing provided, at no cost to volunteer
Working Conditions: Volunteers are working in a fast paced team setting, interacting with diverse customers and other volunteers. Positions may require standing, freedom of movement and some moderate lifting.
Duration: 4 - 6 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime
Time Detail: 3 or 4 hour shifts weekly or monthly
Age: 14+
