Position: Hanukah - Traditions Facilitator - Family and Community Traditions Education Program
Location: 10 Huron Road, Kitchener, ON, Canada
Impact Statement: To promote and enhance cultural diversity by providing students and visitors with information about cultural traditions and celebrations in our community. The Waterloo Region Museum is expanding the Grade 2 and 3 Social Studies program to include how traditions and cultural celebrations are passed on, preserved or changed in our community.
Description: Working with museum staff and curriculum requirements, Hanukah tradition volunteers will share information about their culture and celebrations in a positive and enjoyable manner through presentations, music and hands on activities. The Family and Community Traditions (FACT) is presented to grade 2 and 3 students in conjunction with the provincial Social Studies curriculum.
Training Details: Training will be provided by museum staff. The scheduled training date is November 15, 2017.
Working Conditions: Volunteers will be working indoors at Waterloo Region Museum.
Duration: 3 months or less
Timing: Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail: FACT Program runs from November 21 to Dec 21. The program runs Monday to Friday morning (9:30 am) and afternoon (2:30 pm). Volunteers are welcome to help with however great a time commitment they are able and interested.
