About the Position

Position: English Teacher - Outreach Program

Impact Statement: Help newcomer women who cannot attend English classes or need extra support to learn English in a comfortable environment.
Description: Each English teacher will have a class of 1-3 newcomer women. The 1-hour classes will take place twice a week and will be hosted in the women's homes. The initial commitment is 3 months, but teachers are welcome to continue with students past that time period if it suites the student. Teachers are expected to develop their own basic curriculum, and are welcome to take the women on short field trips out of the home when they get comfortable with the class.
Training Details: Each volunteer will receive a 2-hour Reception House Orientation. When teachers are introduced to the families that they will work with further instructions are given.
Working Conditions: You will meet in newcomer family's homes.
Duration: 3 months or less
Timing: Anytime
Time Detail: Classes can be held at times that suit the volunteer's schedule
