Position: Administrative Support Volunteer - Refugee Program
Location: 50 Kent Avenue, Kitchener, ON, Canada
Impact Statement: Be a part of actively responding to the refugee crisis. In this position you will assist the MCC Refugee Resettlement Team to effectively support and communicate with their sponsoring groups across Ontario.

This is an opportunity to learn about the reality of refugee sponsorship on the ground while using your skills to equip MCC’s sponsorship groups to effectively support newcomer families. Your efforts will contribute to this long term peacebuilding initiative in our country.

Description: Help ensure effective communication to sponsorship groups across the province.

Monitor general inbox and keep an online portal up to date by posting regular regional announcements and resources.

Assist with the delivery and tracking of online check-ins with sponsorship groups to assess how sponsorship and settlement is progressing. Flag issues or concerns for staff follow-up.

Help coordinate and implement meetings/trainings/information sessions with sponsorship groups

Help ensure delivery of Welcome Kits to refugee newcomers across the province

Communicate with Material Resources Coordinator to ensure appropriate welcome kit materials are gathered and available

Put together the welcome kits on an as needs basis
Training Details: Supported by onsite staff
Working Conditions: Work in a clean bright office setting supported by staff.
Duration: 4 - 6 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail: 1 or 2 days a week for 4-8 hours, negotiable
Age: 19+
