Position: Salvage/Deconstruction - ReStore

Description: As part of the team, volunteers will assist in the safe and gentle removal of products and materials from renovators and individuals who are undertaking renovation. They will assist in the delivery of these products to the ReStore(s). In addition, they may assist in the repair of salvaged materials, as directed.
Requirements: English Proficiency, Confidentiality, Physical Demand, Specialized Training, Work Without Supervision
Training Details: Your first step to becoming a Salvage volunteer is to attend a ReStore and Salvage Orientation (1.5 hours) at either of our ReStores. We then ask you commit to volunteering a minimum of 20 hours before becoming part of our Salvage Team.
Necessary training regarding the actual salvage will be provided by experienced HabitatWR volunteers/staff on site.
Working Conditions: Volunteers should be knowledgeable in basic carpentry, own their own safety equipment as required, and be capable of lifting 50 lbs.

Transportation to the various locations is also required. While some locations may be accessible by bus/public transportation, not all are. You will be travelling to the homes/businesses of our donors. Volunteers should be knowledgeable in basic carpentry, own their own safety equipment as required, and be capable of lifting 50 lbs.

Duration: 7 - 12 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime, Anytime
Time Detail: Salvage events take on average half a day. Commitment changes due to volume of acquisitions.
