Position: Tutor for adult learners - "Learn with a Friend" program
Location: 44 Francis Street South, Kitchener
Impact Statement: Our mission is to provide, or facilitate access to, a continuum of care - including comprehensive primary health care, illness prevention, health promotion, and community capacity development - for people in the downtown Kitchener, and those from different ethno-cultural groups, with particular emphasis on those who experience barriers to accessing health resources.
Description: We are looking for a volunteer tutor to provide learning support for an adult client in our Learn with a Friend program. This position involves working one on one with a client to assist with preparing for the GED exam. Prior tutoring or teaching experience and a friendly, non-judgmental approach are needed for this position. This role would be ideal for someone completing their B. Ed. or with a teaching background. Time commitment would be approximately 2 hours per week. Times and days can be flexed to accommodate student and volunteer schedules.
Requirements: English Proficiency, Confidentiality, Specialized Training, Work Without Supervision
Training Details: Orientation to KDCHC and to the Learn with a Friend program is provided.
Duration: 3 months or less
Timing: Anytime
Time Detail: 2 hours per week at a mutually convenient time.
