Impact Statement: Community Music School of Waterloo Region provides music lessons to youth in our community who would not otherwise have access to formal musical training. CMSWR is looking for individuals who are passionate about youth, music, and education to join us as music teachers! Our music teachers commit to teaching their students an instrument and developing a mentoring relationship with their students. We view both of these goals as equally important and valuable.
Description: We are looking for piano, guitar, bass guitar, voice, and violin teachers to join us in September 2018! All of our teachers are volunteers and they commit to teaching for two hours on Saturday mornings, with school calendar holidays off (e.g. Family Day, March Break, Easter) from September 2018 - April 2019. This is a great opportunity to develop your teaching skills and to mentor youth in our community! We work with some of the greatest kids and families. Prospective volunteers must be 18 years old or have graduated high school, and have an advanced level of musical ability.
Requirements: English Proficiency, Confidentiality, Specialized Training, Work Without Supervision
Training Details: Teachers are required to attend an orientation/training session prior to starting with the program. Teachers are also required to obtain a vulnerable sector police check.
Duration: 7 - 12 months
Timing: Weekend - Daytime
Time Detail: The CMSWR provides lessons on Saturday mornings/afternoons. Teachers are asked to commit to a two hour teaching block, which contains four half-hour lessons. Teaching blocks are from 9:30am-11:30am and 11:30am-1:30pm.
