Description: Volunteers are needed to participate in weekly relationship-building activities with the residents of The Salvation Army's New Directions and Stonehenge's Therapeutic Community. Sample activities include fitness activities, board games, and video games. Volunteers must have a good understanding of personal boundaries and be willing to work in a flexible environment.
Training Details: 12-hour training over four days, plus an agency orientation, is required. Training provides volunteers with an overview of issues and challenges faced by federally sentenced men, those battling with addictions, the federal justice system, and reintegration issues that men face upon release. A willingness to be non-judgmental, committed, and caring are assets. There is a $25.00 fee for this training to cover manual(s) costs. On-going in-service training will also be provided. New volunteers will be mentored by existing volunteers.
Duration: More than 1 year
Timing: Weekday - Evening
Time Detail: 7:00 to 9:00 pm. one night a week.
