About the Position
Position #: 19075
OrganizationThe Pet Patrol (Elmira) Inc.
Position: Foster Home Caregiver
Location: Wallenstein, ON, Canada
Impact Statement: As one of our valued foster home caregivers you will provide a safe temporary home for cats or kittens that need 1:1 attention to help with socialization, recovery, and enrichment. It really is more than just fostering, it’s life changing for the kitty and for you. Most of all you will gain the satisfaction of knowing you have literally saved a life!
Description: Some cats need one-to-one attention. Living in foster homes will bring out the best in them. After they have been vet checked, treated for parasites and vaccinated, our cats are then spayed or neutered and placed into foster care. We are ‘kitty matchmakers’ who help find the right home. As a foster caregiver, you will meet people with whom you share your love of cats, learn more about felines and provide the dedication needed to help these cats in crisis. You will also have the opportunity to watch them change into healthy, well-adjusted cats, ready to be adopted by a responsible person with a loving and permanent home.
Training Details: Fostering is not a difficult or complicated process. However, all Foster Care Providers follow an integration procedure and that they keep the Foster Cat indoors, you will basically be treating the cat as if it were your own cherished pet. A volunteer will provide you with all the information that you require and be available for support, information, and teaching throughout your whole experience.
Working Conditions: We would like you to keep them in a separate room from your other pets until they are comfortable with meeting your whole family. Pet Patrol will cover all vet and healthcare costs and tax receipts for any items that you purchase.
